August Manners

Week 1: Polite Responses Say "sir," "ma'am," or an adult's name when responding.
Read about the Native American tradition of respecting elders.
Week 2: Make eye contact.
. When someone is speaking, keep your eyes on him or her at all times. If someone makes a comment, turn and face that person.
Use your eyes to spy shapes, numbers and math terms in this presentation from the Library of Congress.

Week 3: Apologize if you have have done something to hurt someone even if you have done it accidentally. Say "I'm sorry" also to express empathy and sympathy for others.

September Manners

Week 1: Polite Greetings:If you are asked a "how are you" question in conversation, you should ask a similar question in return. It is only polite to show others that you are just as interested in them as they are to you.(Take A Polite Greetings Quiz)

Week 2:Saying Thank You: When someone gives you something, ALWAYS say "thank you" within 3 seconds of receiving it. There is NO excuse for not showing appreciation.(Send a Free Online Thank You Note To Someone You Appreciate!).

October Manners

November Manners

Week 1: If someone bumps into you, say excuse me, even if it was not your fault; it can make you a happier, healthier and safer person.

Week 2: On a field trip, enter a public building quietly and compliment the place you are visiting.

Week 3: During an assembly, do not speak or call out to friends. If you like assembly, check out the Junkbot Assembly Game on the Lego website.

Week 4: When returning from a trip, shake the hands of every chaperone and thank each of them. Learn some tips about a good handshake and learn how to play a ice breaker handshake game.

December Manners

Week 3: No matter what the circumstance, always be honest. Even if you have done something wrong, it is best to admit it, because people will respect that, and oftentimes, will forget any disciplinary measures because of your honesty.

Week 1:Do not slurp!
Learn how to eat spaghetti and soup correctly

Week 2: Don't play with your food while eating; it's rude!
You may play with food for art projects or to prepare foods in interesting ways,

Week 3: Use utensils to eat except when eating the following foods: pizza, bacon, cookies, bread, corn on the cob, sandwiches, french fries, fried chicken, asparagus, and small fruits like grapes or berries.
