St. Thomas More School has a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. Please see the NJHS Membership Qualification Requirements form for information on who qualifies for this award..
Students may apply starting November 13, 2009 and application packets are due November 30, 2009.
A complete packet includes the Student Activity Information Application with required signatures, Teacher Recommendation Form, and Essay. After selection, NJHS members need to turn in the Quarterly Community Activity Form to maintain their membership. See the STM School Handbook, page 48, for more information.
Selection Process
- Each student’s grade point average will be verified and teacher recommendations will be given to students who have a 93 GPA or better.
- Students are required to submit a teacher recommendation to the following teachers
- Homeroom Teacher
- Core Teacher of the student’s choice
- Special Teacher of the student’s choice
- Please note the teachers will NOT return the completed recommendations to the students. The completed recommendations will be turned into the school office upon completion.
- The applications will be reviewed the week of January 4th and letters will be sent out on January 8th at the end of the school day.
- The appeal process will begin on January 11, 2010 and end on January 22, 2010.
New National Junior Honor Society members will be inducted at the Awards Ceremony on February 5, 2010.

2010-2011 Addendum to Requirements for Admittance to the National Junior Honor Society
- Students apply for admittance to the National Junior Honor Society and students that have been inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. The following requirements will be implemented in the school year 2010-2011.
- Students that receive up to two Need Improvement in individual class conduct grades will need to meet with Mrs. Collis prior to submitting an application to the National Junior Honor Society. The student will present a plan of action at the meeting outlining how they will improve the conduct grade(s) in each class.
- Any student inducted as of January 2011 and receiving Needs Improvement in individual class conduct grades will meet with Mrs. Collis to present a plan of action to improve the conduct grade(s) and will be placed on probation until the individual class conduct grade is improved.
Changes to the 2010-2011 Application to the National Junior Honor Society
- A parent signature will no longer be acceptable for verification of volunteer work, Co-curricular activities, and Leadership positions.
