SACS-SAIS Accreditation

St. Thomas More School is dually accredited by the Southeastern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS) and the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). Every five years, the faculty and staff undergo a self-study and issue a report. This report and a visit from the accreditation team from SACS/SAIS form the basis of an evaluative report of accreditation. The most recent accreditation visit occurred in October of 2010 and all STM stakeholders are invited to read both the report we submitted and the evaluative report by the accreditation team, available through the school office.

Excerpts from the Summary and Conclusion of the Accreditation Team

"The visiting team found a caring and passionate community dedicated to providing an
optimum learning experience for its students. All constituencies support the vision that St.
Thomas More Catholic School continue to be the heart of the St. Thomas More parish. Woven
throughout the school is a commitment to addressing the learning needs of all students with a
vision for preparing them for a 21st century education.

Recognition should be given to the school leadership including, but not limited to, the
school principal, her administrative staff, faculty and parents. The students were found to be
well behaved, respectful and committed to the precepts of No Place for Hate."

"The visiting team finds:

1. That the school is in compliance with all standards of the SAIS-SACS accreditation
process.
2. That the self-study conducted by the school meets the standard of quality and
thoroughness required by the SAIS-SACS accreditation process and answers the four
critical questions as outlined in the Guidebook.
3. That the school is unanimously recommended for SAIS-SACS accreditation."

On January 21, 2011, STM was notified that we recieved the vote for re-accreditation.
