Technology is a vital component in today’s learning environment. It promotes active participation, increases motivation, and provides the in-depth knowledge and technical skills necessary for real world, future academic and work experience. Technology resources at Saint Thomas More School are provided for the purpose of supporting the educational mission of the school. Saint Thomas More School is committed to helping the students build these skills, not only by providing a variety of hardware and software resources, but also by teaching them to analyze and evaluate the information they find on the internet to determine its value as a source.
Technology at Saint Thomas More School goes beyond the computer lab. All of our buildings are networked and each classroom is equipped with a variety of technology tools. The campus-wide wireless network enables students to use iPads, Chromebooks, and laptops. Our primary and intermediate levels share mobile iPad labs and Chromebooks which are used to enhance classroom instruction.
Middle school students participate in a 1:1 iPad program. Beginning in 6th grade, each student is provided with a school issued iPad to use at school and at home to complete classwork and homework. The iPad enhances learning and teaching at Saint Thomas More School. The iPads are issued to the students with pre‐installed applications (apps) selected by the classroom teachers. Saint Thomas More School’s goal in providing the iPad is to promote educational excellence: by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, research, creativity, communication, increased productivity, and mobile learning.
