STM Virtual Art Museum
Introduction
You have watched a video of icons, explored the icons at St.
Elias, and
recorded your own personal questions and observations about our 6 icons.
The time has now come in the STM Virtual Art Museum class to
start our main activities, answering the questions you generated about our STM icons, creating a personal icon with Mrs.
Miller, and scanning that icon and making a webpage about it for our school website.
As you create an icon or explain the STM
icons, please remember that icon artists should approach this task
prayerfully. Such an approach can only
help the quality of your work and your grade!
The Task
Your task is to research, with your group members, one of STM's
icons and present the information to your classmates to answer their questions, as well as research icons in general, and your particular saint and present that information in a web page format with your scanned created icon.
Process
In this Web Quest you will be working together with a group
of students in class. Each group will complete the Task. As a member of the group you will explore
web pages from people all over the world who care about icons. Because these are real web pages we're
tapping into, not things made just for schools, the reading level might
challenge you. Feel free to use the online dictionary or one in your classroom.
You'll begin with
everyone in your group getting some background before dividing into roles
where people on your team become experts on one part of the topic. Check out the STM
Art Museum Checklist to review the project explectations. Use the
Internet information linked below to determine the topic of your created icon,
background information about icons in general, simple principles of web page
design, and how to cite sources.
