We would never talk trash on 🌎 Earth Day, but we'll talk composting! To continue caring for our environment this year, we launched our Compost Initiative with @CompostNow to reduce our cafeteria landfill* waste. We’re grateful to the parents who’ve taught our students to identify the correct bin for trash, compost, and recycling to dispose of their lunchtime waste. Let's keep caring for our planet, STM Tigers! #STMdoingMOREforothers

*Did you know that in the United States, it's estimated that between 30-40% of the food supply ends up in landfills? Composting is one way to divert food waste and has many environmental benefits including increasing the soil’s ability to retain moisture, soil regeneration, and methane gas reduction.

An eclipse is better together! Our excited students shared the wonder watching the solar eclipse unfold. With music, friends, and family gathered to see the moon gobble up the sun, this celestial event will be a cherished memory. #loveourSTMfamily #solareclipse2024 ... See MoreSee Less

Our 2nd graders moved full STEAM ahead with LEGO Education’s Coding Express! Learning key coding concepts, such as sequencing, looping, conditional coding, and cause and effect, they worked together using the bricks as a visual and physical way to test and redesign routes to get the train where it needed to go. #joyfullearning #STMxSTREAM ... Calling on their compassion and kindness, our thoughtful students created Easter cards and bird feeders for the residents of Riverdale Center for Nursing and Healing as part of our Holy Thursday retreat. One of our staff members has a family member there, and she delivered the cards and put up the feeders around their facilities. We hope the love we sent brought joy and smiles to all! #STMdoingMOREforothers ... See MoreSee Less

As our Pre-K students joyfully filled their Resurrection Eggs to take home to share the story of Easter with their families, they thoughtfully made the connection with the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for them and the meaning of Easter.

Lewis: Mrs. Blake, thank you for making these eggs for us so we can remember the day Jesus died.
Mrs. Blake: You know, Lewis, we know that’s not the end of the story, and at the end of our eggs, we can see that. At the end of the story, Jesus rose from the dead.

Mrs. Blake: What does the empty egg tell us?
Sydney: Jesus rose from the dead.
Lewis: And the angels came out.
Mrs. Blake: It tells us that the angels announced that Jesus was NOT in the tomb,
Elilta: Because Jesus rose from the dead because it was Easter.
Mrs. Blake: That is our special Easter celebration. 💕

Alleluia! Alleluia!

As our largest service project, the 11th Annual Empty Bowls Dinner was a resounding success! Not only was it a wonderful night of community, but the proceeds raised made a positive impact on hunger in Haiti for The Good Shepherd School lunch program through Haiti Child Sponsorship, Inc.
“Reaching out to the world as the hands of Christ” is part of STM’s mission, and serving others joyfully was a pleasure for our students and staff. We also continued the message of caring for the earth and God’s people by composting everything, making it our first zero-waste dinner! Watch to the end to hear why our Empty Bowls Dinner is important to our students. #STMdoingMOREforothers #EmptyBowls

We are delighted to congratulate our Archdiocese of Atlanta Religion Bee winners and participants. Mary (7th grade) won first place in the middle school division! Zakarias (3rd grade) brought back the bronze medal for the intermediate grades. Our students competed against 16 other Catholic schools and were quizzed on scripture, sacraments, doctrine, and devotion.

Mary and Zakarias did a fabulous job of not only representing STM, but also representing their Catholic faith. We also would like to congratulate our alternates, Liam (6th grade) and Theo (3rd grade) for being prepared and ready to step in if they were needed. Congratulations to all these students and their families. We are so proud of you!

Spring is here and is the perfect time to showcase the love we've put into our new garden! It's a testament to our commitment to the environment, with our recycling and composting initiatives blooming alongside our STEM-driven garden.

With the upcoming construction of a new K-5th school building necessitating a relocation of our garden, our students rose to the occasion. They carefully reviewed possible new locations, sketched designs for plans in Tinkercad and created 12 new colorful beds. The stunning sunflower mural they painted not only adds to the beauty of our campus, but also honors our school's heritage.

Did you know the sunflower symbolizes St. Julie Billiart, the foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, and that these are the Sisters who originally staffed our school at its founding in 1950? St. Julie Billiart reminds us to
"Be like the sunflower that follows every movement of the sun, and keep your eyes always turned towards our good God."

Very talented students 👏!

☘️Top of the morning to you, and happy St. Patrick's Day! Leprechaun traps and visits...oh my! Our older primary students built leprechaun traps. The younger students certainly could've used the traps in their classrooms where leprechauns ran amuck and wreaked some fun havoc. Watch to the end to hear these kindergarteners surprise and excitement! ☘️ ... See MoreSee Less
