Congratulations to 8th grader Madison who won 1st place in STM’s Oratorical and then went on to achieve 2nd place in the Archdiocese of Atlanta Oratorical! The topic this year was Empathy.
We’re so proud of all our students who competed in the STM competition. The middle schoolers composed three-to-five-minute speeches and delivered them in front of peers, family, and staff. Hearing our students’ thoughts about how empathy can foster a kinder society enforced our hope in this next generation of future leaders. Our finalists were 1st Place- Madison (8th grade), 2nd Place- Jacob (8th grade), and 3rd Place- Gianna (7th grade).
How would you answer these questions they pondered?
-How is the virtue of empathy defined, practiced, and lived?
-How could empathy foster a kinder society?
-Would cultivating empathy contribute to understanding and collaboration?
-Looking at Christ’s empathy, how would you apply His example to your own life?
-Who do you see as an example of a person who practices this virtue? How do they show empathy?
