The Georgia Goal Scholarship Program

Turn your TAX dollars into TUITION ASSISTANCE for our school.

As a Georgia taxpayer, you can make a donation to Georgia GOAL, designate that 100% of your donation be sent to St. Thomas More Catholic School, and in exchange receive a dollar-for-dollar state income tax credit.

When you designate St. Thomas More Catholic School as the beneficiary of 100% of your Georgia GOAL donation, then 100% of your donation to Georgia GOAL will be used for tuition assistance for our very own Saint Thomas More Catholic School families.

This opportunity helps many families afford an STM Catholic education that otherwise would not be possible.

The Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program was created to help qualifying families afford a quality private school education while at the same time provide donors with an opportunity to redirect their tax dollars towards private school scholarships.

As a Georgia taxpayer, you can receive a 100% dollar-for-dollar tax credit against your Georgia taxes which means that you actually can lower the amount you owe to the state by the amount of your donation to Georgia Goal.

How can I make a donation to Georgia GOAL to benefit STM students?

Pre-register for your Georgia GOAL Tax Credit here beginning July 1.

  • Why do I need to pre-register?  Because there is a statewide cap each year, a taxpayer interested in contributing to Georgia GOAL must be pre-approved by the Georgia Department of Revenue (GA DOR). The $120 million cap typically is met on the first business day of the year, so pre-registering prior to December 31st (of the previous tax year) is necessary.
  • Once your tax credit has been received and processed by the GA DOR on the first business day of the year, a tax credit approval letter will be mailed to you.
  • The letter provides you with your approval date and amount of your tax credit. Keep the letter for your tax records.
  • Make your contribution during the 60-day window which starts on the date of the approval letter.

*Pass-through income required to support a $25,000 tax credit is $434,783 ($25,000 divided by .0575 = $434,783). Keep in mind that income from the pass-throughs can include both profits (K-1) and wages (W-2) income.
