Cynthia Hardegree
Kindergarten Teacher
What brings you joy in teaching at STM?
- It is so fun to watch Kindergartners grow and see how much they learn over the course of the year. Plus, they always remind me of the small joys- a hug from a friend, a smile, reading a good book, and being outside.
What is your favorite lesson or subject to teach and why?
- I love to teach the students math. You can get creative with the lessons and make math come to life, like: diving cookies with friends or building a castle out of 2D shapes! You can see how empowered they are when they can count to 100 or solve addition/subtraction problems.
I love it when a student sees/learns/discovers…
- How independent they can be, but also what they can do to help others. Seeing them thinking of others is truly inspiring!
Tell us about your experience/qualifications.
- I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Elementary Education, and ESOL endorsement, and a minor in Dance Studies from the University of South Florida. I have been a teacher for almost 8 years and have taught Kindergarten for 7 of those years.
Tell us something personal. :)
- Before becoming a teacher, my dream was to be a ballerina. I trained very seriously for most of my life. I still perform on occasion and love to be on stage!
